The North East traded £472m with Norway in 2019 which will be growing in the years ahead. Equinor together with SSE Renewables will be investing billions in Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore Farm, and when completed will supply 4.5 million UK homes with green renewable energy.
The North East and Norway are also collaborating on the “North Sea Link” to share and develop renewable energy, and provide more economic co-operation, which is being led by Norwegian firm Statnett.
Apart from energy, automotive forms the top traded good between North East England and Norway, and the new “International Advanced Manufacturing Park” seeks to put the North East at the front of automotive innovation and technology, particularly in Electric Vehicles.
