This event is organised between the North East England Chamber of Commerce and The Norwegian-British Chamber of Commerce.
Each year the North East England Chamber of Commerce hosts a complimentary event to celebrate the region’s exporting achievements. This year the global members’ annual lunch will be with the Norwegian Ambassador H.E. Wegger Chr. Strømmen.
This event is designed to create a unique opportunity for our Global members and organisations working globally, to come together in a focused environment and to recognise those organisation’s contribution to the Chamber and North East England.
The UK will be forging a new relationship with Europe, and the Rest of the World, as it ends its European Union membership on 1st January 2021. This will fundamentally change the UK’s trade and political relations in Europe, and present a series of changes and opportunities.
This years Virtual Global Lunch will welcome the Ambassador of Norway, Wegger Chr. Strømmen, to share his insight into trading policy and practicalities as a nation inside Europe, but outside the European Union. Norway has twice rejected EU membership through referenda, instead creating the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), now known as the “Outer Four”, alongside Switzerland, Iceland & Lichtenstein.
The Ambassador will also inform members of the growing and ambitious trade opportunities for business in Norway, as well as the support available to best benefit from them. Famed for it’s maritime, oil & energy production, but Norway is now making headway in datacentres, like the North Sea Link connecting at Blyth, a Healthcare economy worth 10% GDP, Bio-economics and more.
