The Statkraft Group is Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy from hydropower, wind power, gas power and district heating. Statkraft established its UK office in London in 2006 and is now also present in Scotland and Wales. Statkraft is investing heavily in the UK; it operates a hydro power plant and a wind farm in Wales and is involved in several wind farm joint ventures, planning and constructing wind farms both onshore and offshore. In particular, Statkraft is currently constructing the Sheringham Shoal wind farm off the coast of Norfolk in partnership with Statoil. In January 2010, Statkraft and three partners in the Forewind consortium received a licence to develop the largest offshore wind project in the UK at Dogger Bank.

In 2009, Statkraft UK established its UK Trading and Origination unit to provide long term off-take contracts for renewable and conventional power generation.
